1) Coal mining The continuous mining and semi-continuous mining technology adopted in the 1970s, especially the semi-continuous mining technology, is the development direction of deep-pit open-pit mines and hard-rock open-pit mines. The maximum hourly production capacity of open-pit mines is 9 000 to 10 000 t/h, and some are close to 20 000 t/h. The overall structure type is displaceable and semi-mobile belt conveyor. The displaceable belt conveyor with a bandwidth of 1 600 to 2 400 mm is the research focus.

2) The transportation system from mines to power plants or storage, processing, and outbound transportation generally has a transportation distance of several kilometers to tens of kilometers. The storage, transportation, loading and unloading transportation system of a large storage and transportation terminal can reach a storage yard length of 1 to 2 km, in order to reduce The loading and unloading time requires the conveying capacity of the conveyor to reach 10 000 t/h or more, and the distance from the large bulk carrier to the storage yard or silo can reach 20 km. For example, the length of the coal conveying belt conveyor from the bulk cargo flow center of Tianjin Port to the Nanjiang Coal Terminal is 8984 m. The straight-line distance from Xilinhot Shengli Energy No. 1 Open-pit Coal Mine in Inner Mongolia to the coal conveying system of Shengli Power Plant is 9 km, and the length of the long-distance belt conveyor is 8 700 m.

3) As a large number of open-pit mines have gradually entered the stage of deep-pit mining, or converted to underground mining, or increased the number of steps in the mine, the transport volume of stripped or unbroken minerals can reach 3 000~5 000 t/h , The lifting height is 200-700 m, and the conveying inclination angle is 50º~90º, which poses a challenge to the adaptability of belt conveyors. Although foreign companies have carried out research, there is no engineering example. In coal and metal mines, there is a trend to use belt conveyors for the lifting of minerals mined by underground mines, but the domestic belt conveyors with large lifting heights still cannot meet the application requirements.

4) The minerals mined in the mine are transported from the mountain to the material yard or mineral processing plant under the mountain, and the height difference of the downward transportation is 400~600 m and above. Due to the limitation of the conveyor belt and parts, the height difference of the downward transportation is more than 500 m. Using multiple belt conveyors for continuous conveying, it is necessary to develop a belt conveyor with a single machine to transport 600 m and above.

5) Requirements for greening and environmental protection In recent years, due to the requirements for environmental protection, some mining areas have integrated the mineral transportation logistics system, from the original short-distance, small-capacity belt conveyor system to the mainline transportation, and the transportation distance can reach 5 ~25 km, the transportation volume is more than 3 000 t/h;

6) The construction of tunnel engineering includes the major national infrastructure needs of the western transportation construction, water transfer engineering, cross-river and sea-crossing transportation engineering, strategic energy reserve underground engineering, urban rail transit construction, underground comprehensive pipe corridor construction, etc., to cooperate with The belt conveyor of TBM has a great demand for continuous slag discharge; currently, the length of the belt conveyor required for tunnel boring with TBM is roughly 10-25 km.

7) Sand and gravel aggregates Under the background of stricter regulation of the supply of sand and gravel aggregates by the state, and accelerated deployment of state-owned capital in the sand and gravel aggregate industry, sand and gravel enterprises are green and intelligent. The sand and aggregate industry has a strong demand for belt conveyors. The domestic Xiangjiaba sand and gravel aggregate conveyor line reaches 31 km. The long-distance belt conveyor of Anhui Changjiu New Materials Co., Ltd., which was built in 2018, is the belt conveyor with the largest volume of logistics in the world.

8) The internal production process of the enterprise includes conveying, reloading, stacking, sorting, etc.; limited by the internal site and construction facilities of the enterprise, the belt conveyor in the factory is relatively short, but the number of conveyors is large. For example, Baosteel Phase 1 has a total of belt conveyors. More than 600 sets of conveyors with a total length of 57 km;

9) Although the specifications of the belt conveyor have been developed to a very high level, the length of the single unit and the strength of the conveyor belt need to be continuously increased to meet the needs of the application field of the belt conveyor.
